Okay, this post needed to happen… it’s chuck full of all the little things that had a HUGE impact on my business. I would say that all of these things fit under the category of mindset. It took a real mindset shift before I was able to hit 5 and 6 figure months in business. It’s totally possible for you, and I wanted to share some of these tips with you because they are real, tangible things you can shift quickly to help you hit 6 figures faster!
I started off thinking too small
In the beginning, I thought I knew who to market to, but I was soooo wrong! I was thinking way too small. And I was chasing after what I call, the small potatoes… people who were only going to buy from me once, people who needed a quick product or fix for their problem, and people who wanted a deal.
I learned to shift the direction of my marketing from people who wanted to buy my product and service once to businesses who needed refills all the time.
Take a look at your marketing and see who it might be attracting. Small shifts in keywords can mean the difference between a one time $20 sale and a repeatable $150 sale.
Develop connection with clients
I quickly realized if I was ever going to have repeatable business, I needed to develop connection with my clients and there were products and services I could offer which translated into longer term connection.
Once I started listening to my clients and hearing what they needed in their lives repeatably, I was able to create products and services centered around serving them continuously. I provided a door-to-door service and automatically checked in with them every month to make sure they had what they needed. As part of the service, I offered training in how to use the product.
For your own business, think about offering monthly memberships or monthly check-ins which allow you to develop a relationship with clients. Ask yourself what can you offer that you clients will need again and again.
Look bigger than you are
In this day and age, you can look bigger than you are by using the internet to your benefit and creating a professional website. I suggest you step into your future self when you sit down to plan out your business branding and marketing. This will help give the impression you are bigger than you are.
Many people thought my first mom and pop company was a nationwide service. They thought this because we had a professional logo, updated website, and our content was written to speak directly to our ideal client.
If you can get into the mindset of representing yourself as a big company, you will attract big clients. Take a look at how you are representing yourself to the outer world and see if there are ways you can upgrade your business.
Hit 6 figure months in business by speaking to your ideal client
If you are trying to get to 6 figure months in business, you MUST know the struggles of your ideal client and speak directly to her! The easiest way to find out what you ideal client needs it to go MEET with her and talk with her. Find out what can help her have a better life or more success in her business and then create from there.
When you know what your ideal client really needs, you can offer aligned programs and products. It wasn’t until I began to offer things from an aligned place in my business that the right clients repeatedly came back. If you are not hitting 5 or 6 figures a month in business, take a real look at what you are saying in your marketing. You might be offering the wrong things to the wrong people!!!
Spend money on advertising
There are ways to get the word out about your business for free, but if you want to grow, you will need to spend some money on advertising.
I would have never hit 6 figure months in business without spending money on advertising. Some forms of advertising are more effective than others, and you should be willing to experiment and spend money in the first few years of business. It’s important to tweak your ad campaign until you figure out what works.
One of my favorite paid forms of advertising is to direct people to my professional website and use an opt-in (freebie, PDF, or checklist) to have them receive emails from you. You can pay for simple, targeted ads on Facebook to direct people to your website/opt-in. Then warm them up through email.
Connect with people locally
Believe it or not, I hit 7 figures in my first business by delivering product within a 100 square foot mile radius area. Our customers loved us so much that they referred other businesses to us for service. We made sure to take care of our clients as if they were family and this built our network rapidly.
Think about community when you are building your business. If you can connect with people in person locally, you will have the opportunity to develop a close relationship with them and get feedback.
Ultimately you may end up serving people all over the world depending on the type of business you own, but there’s something about people meeting people that helps build the trust factor in your business.
People need to know, trust and like you in order to buy from you. You can help build this trust with them by connecting with them in person. I even know of business owners who announce they are going to be visiting an area (outside of their hometown) and they invite clients to come meet with them.
Have a website with a clear call-to- action
I can’t tell you how many websites I see that don’t have a clear call-to-action. When someone visits your website, you have between 3 and 10 seconds to make an impact. The call-to-action tells your visitor what to do when they get to your site. The most effective call-to-actions direct your visitors to connect with you.
You essentially want to lead the visitors on your site to take an action which will result in them either getting more information or signing up with you. Your website needs three main things, an opt-in to get them to sign up to your email, a button for a quote, and a button for becoming a client. I would also add that you need a video introducing yourself and your product or service.
It’s important to also clearly show your contact info, such as a phone number or text number in top right corner of your site. Keywords about your business attributes or values should be highly visible and above the fold (the top area of your site before scrolling).

Success tips to help you achieve 6 figure months in business
There were a bunch of little things I did consistently that I feel helped me get to 6 figure months in business. These things included: getting up early, meditating, dressing UP for my day (not staying in sweats), creating a list of to-do’s ahead of time, working on the highest priority item first in my day, outsourcing, making sure I was getting paid (not letting receivables get behind), consistently checking in with current clients, and flowing and adapting to change in my industry.

How to set up your business for success from the start
Mindset is everything in business. If you find yourself stuck at a job you hate or you are stuck at some level in your business, it might be time to talk to someone who can help you see what beliefs are keeping you stuck.
One of the biggest ah-ha’s I had before hitting 6 figure months in business was I needed to be in a mindset of I’m going to try no matter what (no matter what fears come up, no matter what other people say, no matter what my financial situation is…)
I was 19 when I started my first business, and every step of the way, some crazy belief came up in my mind to challenge me. But I took that as an opportunity to get more information, to get more help, to overcome and prove to myself I could have success with my own business.
