Blogging was one of the ways I made a side hustle income while I worked. It soon became my passion and allowed me to quit my 9-5 job so I could blog full time. There were some key factors that made it possible for me to have real success with my blog.
Looking back now, I can say that I couldn’t have done it without help and a lot of persistence. Getting to the point where my blog was replacing my income took hard work and dedication, but it was so worth it in the long run!
I’m so glad I started blogging even though I had fears that there were so many other blogs out there. There really is room for lots of different viewpoints and blogs. If you feel inspired to try it out, I recommend finding bloggers who inspire you and follow them to learn as you go.

Here are some things that helped me stay focused on my long term goal of having a successful online business…
I surrounded myself with successful mentors-
Mentors provided me with the example that success was possible. Their input and encouragement was invaluable in keeping me focused on my big goal.
I can say that having mentors was probably the biggest reason I have real success with my blog. They steered me in the right direction and kept me from losing focus.
I reached out for help when I needed it-
Sometimes I could tell I was getting distracted or procrastinating, but what I discovered was this usually came at a time when I needed some wisdom, input or to learn something new. Make sure to ask for help, especially when you feel yourself drifting!
The longer it takes you to ask for help, the longer it will take you to have real success with your blog.
Your spouse may not have all the answers-
Ha ha I say this one in jest, but it’s so true. I used to turn to my spouse to help me with everything from mindset questions to blogging dilemmas.
While he has an amazing IT background, he has no clue how to set up landing pages, email contact forms or display advertising on a website. He does offer a hug when I need moral support, and for that I am eternally grateful.
These days, I now have mentors, mastermind groups and blogging friends to turn to when I need to work through a blogging challenge.
Have one big goal and one big offer-
I used to have this long list of goals to complete for the year with my blog, and it often just turned me into a scatter brain. Now I know I perform better when I have just one big goal and one offer I am focused on sharing.
Focusing on one thing and doing it well often helps you improve over time. It’s also much easier to break one big goal down into smaller manageable tasks, and then tackle those weekly.
It was so much easier for me to make money on my offer once I zeroed in on my zone of genius and what I do best, which is coach others in business.
Discover your zone of genius and create ONE offer to share with your audience. It will make your life so much easier.
See your goal or offer through to the end-
Once you are clear on your one big goal and offer, make sure to give it the time it deserves to be successful. I often found myself giving up too soon. In the beginning stages of my online business, I would just put an offer out ONE TIME and expect sales or results. I wondered why I never sold anything and often thought it was because people didn’t resonate with what I was offering.
The truth is, people need to hear or be reminded of your offer at least 7 times before they even start to warm up to you. So, yes, you may become tired of talking about your offer, but remember that others may not have even noticed it yet. Don’t be afraid to talk about your offer for at least one to two months (a few times a week), before you table it. AND THEN bring it back a few months later and repeat the process all over again.
