If you are a prolific writer, you’ve probably written enough content to go back into your stats and look at what your audience loves.
If you have these types of stats at your fingertips, then you are already ahead of the game. You can dig into your dashboard and see what articles are getting traction with your audience.
With this valuable information, you can use your writing to convert your fans into coaching clients.
Here’s how you can convert them…
Maybe as you dig into your stats, you notice that your audience comes to read your writing because they want to learn how to make money writing. This would be a very easy way to offer coaching in writing.
People hire coaches to learn how to do something better and faster. If you can show them the value you provide and that you will be helping them achieve their goals of making money with their writing faster, then they will find value in hiring you as a coach.
How to convert your writing into coaching within 90 days
- Own that you are now a coach- add “coach” to your bio, and when people ask what you do, say “writer” AND “coach.”
- Create a coaching offer that feels good to you and that you have “room” for in your month. I started with one-hour sessions and charged $20 an hour!!! I soon discovered I was way undercharging and increased my price quickly.
- Write content that doesn’t just give away tips but rather shows your audience WHY it matters… you need to learn to speak to the part of the person that desires change. You are the one who knows how to get them there, so it’s important to speak with certainty.
- Invite your audience to reach out or engage with you. You can do this in various ways, but the key is to be authentic and create natural interaction. One of my favorite ways to create an opportunity for engagement is by hosting a monthly challenge with a series of live videos. Announce the date you will be going live and invite your audience to join in. If your topic doesn’t gain followers, test out a new topic challenge the next month. Keep showing up and offering value. At the end of your challenge, announce your coaching services or offer and where they can sign up.
- Don’t be afraid to test out different types of offers BUT keep them simple. Hourly sessions are a great way to get started and also introduce yourself to new clients. Eventually, you can create an offer that truly helps them through a transformation, and you can charge much more for this type of offer.
- Start an email list or group specifically for people who want to become xyz (in the example above, writers making money online) and include the link to join at the bottom of some of your top posts.
Your writing is just the beginning…
Ultimately, you can use your writing as a way to test out how people connect with YOU. You have unique experiences and abilities, and through writing, you can discover not only what topics you love to write about, but also what your audience needs more help with… Coaching offers your audience the opportunity for advancement and refinement, and this could very well be the perfect way for you to make more money doing what you love.
